An interview with psychotherapist Dr. Jeanne Safer about her experience struggling with her own wounds that did not heal in therapy. She discusses the impact this had on sense of self and as a therapist. Dr. Safer decided to write books about her own personal struggles, trusting that this information would be helpful, so that instead of seeing her as the expert, and themselves as screwed up, they could join in the shared process of self-discovery. She also writes about how it was the death of her mother, that ultimately helped initiate the process of healing.
