Public Speaking

Dr. Hallward’s lecture was inspiring and nuanced, building off her many years of research and practice. The warmth of her story-telling and her thoughtful interactions with our audience made for a meaningful and deeply humanistic session.

—Eliza Alexander, Interim Executive Director, Independent School Association of Northern New England (ISANNE)

Dr. Anne Hallward has keynoted internationally to gatherings of doctors, professors, teachers, students, heads of school, mental health professionals, chaplains and activists at Princeton University, the National Association of Social Workers, Harvard University, Lincoln Center, the Internal Family Systems National Conference, and more. She also leads workshops, conducts public interviews, and has designed and taught courses on subjects that are hard to talk about, including death and dying, cultural humility, sexuality, and psychiatric interviewing.

Currently Dr. Hallward is especially passionate about these subjects:

  • Fostering courage in therapy & life
  • Traumatic silence
  • Navigating the transition from shame to courage
  • The power of story as a force for social change
  • The art of having difficult conversations
